LSAMP Student Leaders

LSAMP Student Leaders help LSAMP Scholars at community colleges and WSU incoming first-year and transfer students plus current LSAMP participants to:

  • Connect with research opportunities and resources.
  • Assist in the planning and organizing of workshops and events for the WSU LSAMP program.
  • Take part in well-planned and -organized workshops and events for the program.
  • Create a comfortable, diverse community for students in STEM that are members of historically excluded peoples.

LSAMP Student Leaders are expected to:

  • Regularly communicate with community college scholars and first-year and transfer students.
  • Co-coordinate LSAMP activities such as conferences, trainings, and banquets.
  • Participate in monthly trainings on topics such as cultural competencies and professional development.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time LSAMP eligible student
  • Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Have attended at least two years at WSU (48 credits) or more
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and cultural competency
  • Must commit to 6-7 hours a week
  • Must communicate and work well with others
