Research Opportunities

LSAMP students listening to a LSAMP faculty research mentor share his work using a poster as a visual aid.
Many students have worked with the WSU LSAMP program and its campus partners to get involved in the opportunities for undergraduate STEM research at WSU. Visit the Office of Undergraduate Research’s “Get Started in Research” page to learn more.

Networking

New WSU LSAMP students pose together for a group photo at the outdoor viewing area around the iconic skylight of the Terrel library.
The power of networking is just one of the many benefits provided by our program to WSU students from historically underrepresented groups who are pursuing a STEM degree and career. Our program can connect you with campus partners who are eager to provide you with the resources and support to help you be academically successful.

Community

Students eating together outside at the LSAMP program's welcome back BBQ event.
At its center in CUE 403 and beyond, WSU LSAMP hosts fun events that bring students together through food, friends, and activities. The chance to network and build friendships with other STEM students who share similar goals is valuable. And, these are students who share the challenges and opportunities that come with working toward a STEM degree.

Our Mission: Better Representation in STEM

Named in honor of former U.S. Congress member Louis Stokes, WSU LSAMP is an National Science Foundation-funded program that serves students from groups that are historically underrepresented in STEM fields as they pursue their educational and professional goals. The program at WSU Pullman offers awards for mentored research, hosts networking and social events, collaborates with partner programs, and welcomes guest experts to present workshops on STEM and other topics relevant to students’ success.

WSU is one of five institutions offering baccalaureate degrees in the Pacific Northwest LSAMP community. Each university has a PNW LSAMP partnering community college. WSU LSAMP’s partner is Yakima Valley Community College.
